Inspection Services
CMS Inspectors are rigorously trained in a cost-effective manner with the goal of sustaining site-specific compliance. Once our inspectors are ready for the field, the training does not stop. They receive continuous training and are required to obtain certifications (such as CISEC or CPESC) for their reviews to ensure that inspections are done accurately.
CMS Inspectors set themselves above the competition because they:
Walk the site, document relevant data from the visit, and review the inspection report with on-site staff.
Communicate with your vendors, BMP installers, etc.
Update and manage your SWPPP book. All site conditions and changes are documented in the SWPPP and reflected in the site maps and SWPPP narrative.
Provide a user-friendly report and detailed email outlining priority items.
Prior to submitting the report, our inspectors are required to contact your company’s on-site personnel to review it. This achieves two things:
It better informs your on-site personnel about stormwater management and regulations, increasing site compliance.
It serves as a briefing for on-site personnel and the inspector so everyone is on the same page. This helps prevent unnecessary spending on BMPs that may not be needed at that time due to construction phasing. Our staff reports the facts, makes no assumptions, and works directly with our clients.
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
Our Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) are the industry’s best because they are entirely customized to each specific project. Each CMS SWPPP is a living document reflecting on-site conditions. They guide the project’s erosion and sediment control strategies, maximizing compliance and minimizing risk.
Our user-friendly SWPPPs lead on-site staff throughout the life of the project – giving clear, site-specific instructions to phase all BMP installation and to maintain compliance within each project’s budgetary constraints. Regulators, inspectors, and company personnel alike finally have a truly customized document that’s proven to be an invaluable resource.
CMS Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans are a step above the competition, designed to be the best in the industry. We achieve this with our signature 4-tier approach:
Ensure that our designers are well-versed with all federal, state and local regulations applicable to the jurisdiction within which the plan is to be implemented. It has been our experience that many designers leave out the local regulations which can put your project at risk.
Obtain a copy of all available information for each project including the grading, construction and landscape plans, soils and drainage reports, and any environmental assessments that may have been conducted.
Once this information is received we will make a site visit in order to look at all of the data you have provided and apply it to the “real world”. During this time we will be considering the topography, soil type, typical and potential climatic conditions, land disturbing activities and the local regulations. Taking all of this data into account, our designer will contact your site project manager, superintendent, etc. to ensure that our plan works with YOUR plan. This is usually the first point where communication becomes vital to the success of your stormwater program.
The SWPPP is then drafted in accordance with your unique business plan to ensure that it can be easily implemented. This greatly increases the success of your SWPPP and stormwater program.
Permits, Monitoring and Training
With the most streamlined version of the industrial permits comes a comprehensive list that must be adhered to in order to truly achieve compliance.
In order to make a solid plan, time must be spent at your facility to ensure that the planned strategy is going to be achievable. We will also ensure that if changes need to be made to your systems, that those changes are communicated so that you are set up for success from the start. We are proud to provide and deliver the industry’s best practices for stormwater management.
Once the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) is completed, your duties have only begun. But don’t stress; we take you through the program from the “cradle to grave”. We are happy to take it off of your hands completely and run it for you, or consult and train your staff on how to run it in-house. Typically clients will have us perform certain aspects of their programs while we train them to manage it internally over time. Our services can be tailored to meet your individual needs.
Typical services performed by CMS Environmental Solutions post SWPPP production include:
Quarterly and Annual Inspections (including site map and SWMP/SWPPP updates) performed by one of our inspectors
Quarterly and Annual Sampling and Monitoring
DMR Submittal
Annual Training Certification

CMS Flight School/Drone Overviews
Let CMS’s team of FAA Licensed Remote Pilots help you to get a bird’s eye view of your project. CMS drones are equipped with the most advanced sensors and we utilize the most advanced software on the market so our drone pilots can help you with your project from cradle to grave.
During the land development you can easily monitor your site with real time 2D live maps. We have also invested in advanced sensor systems that allow our pilots to run autonomous flight patterns to give you 3D maps, letting you know your exact cuts and fills, soil stockpiles sizes etc. This type of data is invaluable in the land development process and will save you time and money.
As your project progresses, 2-dimensional maps can be invaluable to your marketing and sales departments. This is especially true for single family home builders. It gives them the ability to show potential home buyers in real time what the community looks like now and what it will look like in the future.
Lastly with our advanced sensor system we can pre-program autonomous flight paths for our drones to fly safely over your site to capture growth. By being able to capture plant health, thermal and orthomosaic you can determine if you’re ready to close out a permit. If you are not you can identify the exact areas that need to be reseeded saving you time and money.
